Zeaborn Ship Management fights against maritime pollution
We as a ship manager sincerely care about the seas and marine life, which is strongly endangered through pollution. Together with various stakeholders in the industry we have supported the development of a new app from the non-profit organisation Eyesea. The app maps marine pollution and hazards and thus reduces waste pollution at sea.
Eyesea pursues the goal of using geotagged pictures to chart maritime pollution. Together with various stakeholders in the industry, we have supported the development of a mobile phone application that is about to bring change to the marine ecosystems for the better.
The app is available free of charge for IoS and Android devices. Download the app, snap a picture of any marine pollution or hazard that you see, and tag the pollution category. If your GPS is on, it will automatically be geo-tagged to the accurate location.
The pictures uploaded are 100% anonymous and only used for simple data collection to create vast amounts of information to chart out detailed maps of pollution, that will be made available free of charge to governments, clean-up groups, researchers, local authorities, and a range of other stakeholders, enabling them to take targeted clean-up action and make evidence-based policy decisions.
At Zeaborn Ship Management we are convinced of this initiative and we believe that together we can achieve some actual change. Spread the word and start taking pictures!
Together for a cleaner Ocean!
